The ASM Global management team has continued to adapt to the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic and has worked to protect the health and wellbeing of our team members, building partners, and tenants.
On July 2, 2020 the State of Ohio extended the Mass Gatherings Order barring gatherings of 10 or more people for the indefinite future. The Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland will remain closed until further notice in compliance with local, county, and state guidelines.
The exception is the on-site UPS Store, which is designated as an essential service and will remain open. ASM Global has continued to provide essential operations, maintenance, and security services.
During the facility closure, the ASM Global Cleveland team has been working to create a safe and worry-free experience for our guests upon reopening the facility. Our team is utilizing CDC guidelines and industry best practices to put forth new policies and procedures for cleaning and disinfecting, as well as maintaining proper social distancing.
Our team has invested in new disinfecting and cleaning technology, implemented stringent cleaning protocols, and redesigned meeting spaces to keep our guests and employees safe and healthy.
Our facility has also announced its commitment to achieve Global Biorisk Advisory Council® (GBAC) STAR™ accreditation, the gold standard for prepared facilities. Under the guidance of GBAC, a Division of ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association, the Huntington Convention Center and Global Center will implement the most stringent protocols for cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention in its facilities.
To achieve GBAC STAR™ accreditation, the Huntington Convention Center and Global Center will demonstrate compliance with the program’s 20 core elements, which range from standard operating procedures and risk assessment strategies to personal protective equipment and emergency preparedness and response measures.
As an ASM Global facility, we are also implementing the ASM Global VenueShield Program being utilized in 300+ Public Assembly Venues around the world. This is a new environmental hygiene protocol utilizing hygienic safeguards that serve ASM Global clients, guests, and staff. The comprehensive new protocol was developed in partnership with AECOM, the world’s premier infrastructure firm, and its international team of sports venue design, environmental hygiene and biocontainment experts. The VenueShield program is also being guided by scientific and medical research input from Drexel University College of Medicine (DUCOM) and its interdisciplinary team of expert faculty and graduate medical students, under the direction of Dr. Charles Cairns, dean of DUCOM. These critical healthcare insights, facilitated by the Drexel Solutions Institute (DSI), will provide ongoing recommendations for COVID-19 mitigation strategies.
